WE LOVE THE COAST

The coastline of British Columbia extends for 30,000km, stretching from the Salish Sea upwards to Alaska, encompassing numerous islands in between.

The coast is our lifeline; it serves an irreplaceable role in ecological health, our well-being, and livelihood. Unfortunately, these ecosystems face ongoing threats from habitat loss, pollution, and the intensifying impacts of climate change. Moreover, British Columbia is one of the only coastal regions in North America without a strategic plan to protect and manage the coast.

That’s why we launched Blueprint for the Coast – a campaign by CPAWS-BC and West Coast Environmental Law calling for British Columbia to implement a Coastal Marine Strategy and law that is co-developed and co-managed with First Nations.
